It has been reported in a recent BBC news article that the sale of extra large toilet seats that are capable of supporting 60 stone (381kg) have doubled in the last 2 years. This is according to sale figures from bathrooms supplier Gordon Ellis in Castle Donnington, leicestershire, who started selling the extra large toilet seats after seeing them in the US. The extra large toilet seats are 75% larger than a standard toilet seat and are designed for the large person. Their Sales director Steven Evanson said: “Every statistic in recent years shows people are getting larger.” which maybe the reason behind their increasing sales figures.

Resent government statistics have show that two thirds of adults in the UK are over weight or obese.  With more and more people becoming over weight both in the US and the UK it is unsuprising that products such as the extra large toilet seat are being designed and manufactured.

Shower is an area in which one bathes underneath a spray of water. Looking at the origins of Showering, the original showers were neither indoor structures nor man-made, but were common natural formations such as waterfalls. The falling water rinsed the bathers completely clean and was more efficient than bathing in a traditional basin.

The first group of people to have Showering that would be recognisable to a modern person were the ancient Greeks. Their aqueducts and sewage systems made of lead pipes allowed water to be pumped both into and out of large communal shower rooms used by elites and common citizens alike.

Despite the innovations in plumbing and water treatment, the domestic shower and Showering is much the same as it was in the late 19th century. The two most commonly found types of showers are the stall shower and the shower/bathtub. The former is solely a shower shielded by a glass door like many shower enclosures, for privacy and to contain any stray water droplets. The latter can be used to take a bath or a shower and is shielded by a sliding shower curtain attached to a shower rail, once again for privacy and water containment. Though most domestic units have a single overhead shower head, more elaborate multi-head showers can be found in custom bathrooms.

Generally, a Shower Cubicle will be a part of your bathroom for years to come and buying one will be an investment into your house. Showers and appropriate shower accessories can provide not only a functional use within the household, but also an aesthetically pleasing view, which will more often than not add value to your property. Furthermore, designed to suit all tastes and budgets, selecting the right Shower Tray with your shower will provide your shower enclosure with a good solid foundation. If you are purchasing a shower enclosure that does not come complete with a dedicated Shower Tray then we recommend that you select the appropriate Shower Tray to ensure both water-tightness and longevity.

Showering and shower usage in the latter half of the 20th century has skyrocketed. Personal hygiene became a primary concern, and bathing every day or multiple days a week is common among Western cultures. Showering is generally faster than bathing and can use less water.

This quick and efficient concept explains its popularity as it fits in with the fast-paced lifestyles of modern people. In addition, Showering, as opposed to taking a bath, is recommended for older people because it reduces the risk of injury related to falling, especially when a shower seat is installed.  Therefore, do not hesitate to bring your household into the 21st century and order a brand new Showering system online at BHL.
